Semester 2

Le Canard de Sydney

Weekly Edition 2.1

"Le Retour"

A MESSAGE FROM BEC

Re-bienvenue tout le monde pour le deuxième et même plus grand semestre avec FrenchSoc !

I hope you have watched a French film, the news or found yourself saying words like « macaron » or « tour de France » these holidays. But if you feel you're a little out of touch with your French side, pas de souci, rest assured that FrenchSoc's conversation groups, Petit Tarte gatherings and films are back once again to put you back on the path to francophone bliss!

Also watch out for our bigger than ever Wine and Cheese night in the Verge Arts festival in W6-7. Vin et fromage…, que voulez-vous de plus dans la vie?

SALUT LES AMIS

FrenchSoc is back for Semester 2 with more coffee, cakes, cheese and camaraderie.

Kicking it all off is our stall on Eastern Avenue for Re O Day.

We'll be signing up new members, plus current members can win a great prize if they become the 1,000th person to join our facebook group.

If you know a friend who isn't receiving our newsletters and should, all contact details can be updated and checked there too.

PLUS, our little duckling, le canard de Sydney, is taking up surfing this semester with

better live content on our website.

Weekly emails, like this one "les coups de bec" will feature all the

regular sections so that with one coup d'oeil you'll know what's coming up at FrenchSoc, toute de suite.

Online we're opening up content for all our members to share their French stories. You can float articles in English or French, show off why you got a HD, write or vlog French film and movie reviews, cartoons, jokes, tell us about formidable restaurants and French experiences.

This is a great platform for all different levels of French at uni to see snapshots of dialogue in progress across the different study programs and francophone adventures.

THIS WILL BE PUBLISHED 3 TIMES IN THE SEMESTER, WEEKS 4, 8 AND 12.

SEMAINE 12 SEMESTRE 1

Bonjour les amis,
This week with FrenchSoc:
Film Screening Tuesday
[Education LR 351, 5 pm, Tuesday 25th May]
This week FrenchSoc and the Suspense and Mystery Society bring you 8 Femmes, followed by free pizza! Meet us in Education Lecture Room 351 at 5 for the screening and join us afterwards for pizza and to chat about the film.
Synopsis:
One morning at an isolated mansion in the snowy countryside of 1950s France, a family is gathered for the holiday season. But there will be no celebration at all because their beloved patriarch has been murdered! The killer can only be one of the eight women closest to the man of the house. Was it his powerful wife? His spinster sister-in-law? His miserly mother-in-law? Maybe the insolent chambermaid or the loyal housekeeper? Could it possibly have been one of his two young daughters? A surprise visit from the victim's chic sister sends the household into a tizzy, encouraging hysterics, exacerbating rivalries, and encompassing musical interludes. Comedic situations arise with the revelations of dark family secrets. Seduction dances with betrayal. The mystery of the female psyche is revealed. There are eight women and each is a suspect. Each has a motive. Each has a secret. Beautiful, tempestuous, intelligent, sensual, and dangerous...one of them is guilty. (IMDB.com)
