Frenchsoc Newsletter Semaine 7

Bonjour les amis! 

 

We hope you all had a great Easter break! Thanks to everyone who turned out to our Week 6 Wine and Cheese Night, it was a great evening and we hope you had fun! We'd like to say a big MERCI BEAUCOUP to King Island for their fantastic support the Wine and Cheese Night. You can buy more of their yummy cheese which you sampled on the night from Harris Farm at Broadway and your local supermarket!

 

In week 7 Frenchsoc will be holding our new FRENCH STUDY GROUP on Monday afternoon, having a CAFÉ RENDEZVOUS at 'Le Petit Tarte Café' in Glebe on Thursday 4-6pm, as well as normal CONVERSATION GROUPS held between 1-2pm, Monday to Thursday in the Manning backcourt.

Set aside some time to actually do that French homework. Come study and chat with a group of French students - bring along your grammar exercises and revision sheets!

 

CAFÉ RENDEZVOUS AU PETIT TARTE 
4-6pm THURSDAY 23rd April.

Rendez-vous au Café du Petit Tarte ce JEUDI. Come and enjoy some FREE coffee OR viennoiserie ou patîsserie (or both coffee and cake for just $2) in the chic Parisian-style "Le Petit Tarte Café" in Glebe. A bit of French conversation to be had too… Please feel free to come along even if it's later in the arvo!

Please show your ACCESS or FrenchSoc card when you order and fill in the sign in sheet when you arrive. Non-access card holders may purchase coffees for $3.50, cakes for $5, or coffee and cake for $7.
Le Petit Tarte is opposite the park between St John's Rd and Bridge Rd. On se voit là-bas!

 

 

 CONVERSATION GROUPS  

Conversation groups will be running again this week, running MONDAY 1-2pm, TUESDAY 1-2pm, WEDNESDAY 1-2pm and THURSDAY 1-2pm at the Manning backcourt (i.e. behind Manning).

Enjoy a FREE coffee courtesy of Frenchsoc, have a chat and practice your French with other students (local and international!) Look out for the French flag and some of our friendly exec in our new navy Frenchsoc t-shirts!

The Sydney French Choir (a community initiative of Sydney French Language Group) is seeking singers to learn and rehearse French repertoire Jazz, Funk, Rock, Cabaret, Barbershop etc. An exciting program with public performance at end-of-term! 8 week choir rehearsal - 2 hours per week - conducted by Mr Dallas Watts
Term starts Wednesday 22nd April 2009 at 6.30pm

JOIN A FRENCH MUSIC BAND
The Sydney French Language Group (www.meetup.com/sydney-french) wishes to establish 1 or 2 French Music Bands. We started with French music Jam sessions so the band will naturally evolve. We already have 15 musicians that participate in the informal Jam. We wish to extend an invitation to members of Sydney University French Society to participate in the next session on the 21st April 2009. Play music and practice your French!

INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM INFORMATION SESSIONS

General Information Session 1-2pm Tuesday 21 April, Carslaw Lecture Theatre 373

Interested on going on exchange to another country during your degree? The application deadline for March semester 2009 exchanges is 31st May 2009, however you will need to attend at least one 'Topical Information' Session and one 'How to Apply' Information session in order to receive your exchange application. This week there is a General Information Session on Tuesday 1-2pm in the Carslaw Lecture Theatre 373. POWER SHIFT CONFERENCE

11-13 July, Sydney

Power Shift 2009 will be a key moment where our generation demonstrates and asserts our power and directs our energy to force political change. It will be a coming together of thousands of young Australians to collectively say 'no' to climate change. The conference will be held in Sydney from 11-13 July this year. It will be a great opportunity to hear about solutions to the climate change problem and to find out how to make a difference, to meet other awesome people from around Australia, to hear some great speakers, see some great bands, and make a huge difference to the future of the country. Party for Poverty will be screening 'Slumdog Millionaire' this Tuesday at the Sydney University Village green patch, 90 Carillon Avenue Newtown, at 8.30pm. We'll have baked goodies available to munch on during the event too! Do come and enjoy the movie, the goodies and the company :)
