Frenchsoc Newsletter Semaine 2

Bonjour les amis!

This week Frenchsoc are continuing our foray into French cinema with group outings to the French Film Festival screenings of "ASTÉRIX AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES" "CASH" and "BORN IN '68". Unfortunately we have sold out of our allotment of tickets for these films, but you can check out the website http://www.frenchfilmfestival.org/sessions/sydney.aspx or phone 1300 306 776 to purchase extra tickets to these and other sessions.

We have purchased 20 more tickets to the 'MY FRIENDS, MY LOVES' screening on Tuesday March 17th, and will be selling them to members for only $10 (Normally $15)! If you are interested please reply to this email with your name, access card number and contact phone number, with 'TICKETS' in the subject.

Based on the success of our WINE AND CHEESE afternoon during O-week, we've decided to hold another one at 4pm Wednesday the 11th March at Hermanns! See below for more details!

Conversation groups will also be restarting this week, held between 1-2pm, Monday to Thursday in the Manning backcourt.

CETTE SEMAINE avec FrenchSoc:

MINI 'WINE AND CHEESE NIGHT' WITH SUNSET JAZZ

Don't worry if you missed out on the fantastic Wine and Cheese afternoon we held during O-week, we're holding another one this week! Frenchsoc and Winesoc are once again joining forces to enjoy some wine, cheese and jazz music from 4pm on WEDNESDAY the 11th March at Hermann's Bar. Entry is only $2 for Members, $5 for Access, and $7 for Non-Access. There are a limited number of tickets, and you can only buy them at the door, so make sure you get to Hermann's early on Wednesday!

"ASTÉRIX AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES" (Astérix aux Jeux Olympiques) chez Palace Norton (99 Norton Street, LEICHHARDT)

6:20pm THURSDAY 12th March. Join us at this screening of the most expensive French film ever made! 'Astérix aux Jeux Olympiques' is the third 'Asterix and Obelix' film, and is based on the original comics of Goscinny and Uderzo.
We will probably go out as a group after the film for FREE drinks or ice-cream!

"CASH" chez Palace Verona (17 Oxford Street, Paddington)

7pm FRIDAY 13th March. 'Cash' is a slick caper comedy in the tradition of 'Ocean's Eleven' and 'The Usual Suspects', set in Paris and the glamorous Côte d'Azur.

We will probably go out as a group after the film for FREE drinks or ice-cream!

"BORN IN '68" (Nés en 68) chez Palace Verona (17 Oxford Street, Paddington)

4:00pm SUNDAY 15th March. This film is a dramatic comedy exploring 40 years of social upheaval in France, exploring the lives of adults who were once flower children, and their hopes for a better world.

We will probably go out as a group after the film for FREE drinks or ice-cream!

CONVERSATION GROUPS

Conversation groups will be restarting this week, running Monday 1-2pm, Tuesday 1-2pm, Wednesday 1-2pm and Thursday 1-2pm at the Manning backcourt (i.e. behind Manning).

Enjoy a FREE coffee courtesy of Frenchsoc, have a chat and practice your French with other students (local and international!) Look out for the French flag and some of our friendly exec in our new navy Frenchsoc t-shirts! This week our conversation groups will be a mix of skill levels, and in future weeks we're hoping to run separate beginners, intermediate and advanced conversation groups.
