Conversation groups

Verge French Film Night

5.30-9pm Wednesday 9th September, Verge Festival Tent, Manning Road

 

Visit the Festival Tent for a classy evening of French sophistication presented by FrenchSoc. Reflecting the spirit of Verge 2009, the evening will traverse the old and the new - the classic French film 'Masculin-Feminin' at 6pm will be followed by an interlude of music, drinks and canapés before the contemporary French film 'L'auberge espagnole (The Spanish Apartment) kicks off at 8pm. Ooh la la!
Food and one drink included with entry. Proudly supported by Hopscotch Films and The Department of French Studies. The films will have English subtitles.

Verge Festival Poetry Reading: French Poetry Déclamation, Le thème : l'ancien/ le nouveau.

5-6pm, Thursday 10th September, Holme Reading Room

Interested in French poetry? Come along and listen to French students reciting their favourite poems this Thursday! If you have a favourite poem you'd like to read or recite on the day, just email Christel Rome (christel.rome@usyd.edu.au) to get approval for the poem you've chosen, which should fit in with the theme "l'ancien/le nouveau."  There will be a prize for first place!!

Soirée Portes Ouvertes/After Hours Open Day of the Alliance Française Centre

6.30pm-9pm, Thursday 1st October, Alliance Française Centre.

 

Celebrate the opening of the new Alliance Française Centre and re-discover all that the Alliance Française has to offer members and students:

· "Speed Testing" A quick 5 minute evaluation to find out your level of French.

· Short "try-me" classes to introduce you to the teachers, text books and language learning environment

· Exhibition Opening: The Building as Muse: The Creative Collaboration of Harry Seidler and Max Dupain on floors 1,2 and 13.

· Join Alliance for wine and food tastings, French music, and a series of short films in the Media Centre. 

New members who join on the night will enter a draw to win 2 tickets to a performance of BLISS at B Sharp, Belvoir St Downstairs Theatre. BLISS is translated from French and is by the Québécois playwright Olivier Choinière.

 

 

 

Sydney French Theatre call for French actors

Sydney French Choir's Term 4 starts on the 14th October 2009

Wednesdays from 6.30pm to 8.30 pm, St Stephens Uniting Church (Opposite Parliament house), 197 Macquarie St Sydney ( 5 minutes walk from Martin Place or St James Stations)/

Cost: $117 for 9 week rehearsal program (Full Time Students $69 )

Vocal Technique and Music Reading with Dr Steve Watson Ph.D

Saturday 19th September 2009 from 10 am to 1 pm (registration at 9.30 am), Arts College for Theatre and Television (Opposite Central Station), 505 Pitt St Sydney

Cost: $45 or full time students $35 including materials.

[Dr Watson recommends that you purchase Brimhall's complete music theory- if you can it's about $20.
