Coming up with FrenchSoc:
French Film Screening with Sydney French Meetup Group: Les Poupées Russes (Russian Dolls)
6-9pm Tuesday 13 October, Hermann's Bar
We're screening the classic French Film Les Poupées Russes (Russian Dolls), which is the sequel to the popular film L'Auberge d'Espagnol (The Spanish Apartment) which we screened during the Verge Arts Festival. We'll be having drinks and some French conversation at Hermann's from 6, and will screen the film around 7pm.
Résumé du film:
Xavier is now thirty. No longer a student, he is not yet a well-balanced, fullfiiled adult either. His career is unsatisfying : far from being the renowned novelist he aimed to be he must be content with little jobs such as reporter or ghost writer. His greatest "achievement" in "literature" is his collaboration to the script of a corny TV soap ! His sentimental life is not much better, rhythmed by one night stands and unfinished romances. It looks as if when he seduces a woman beautiful outside and inside such as Kassia or Wendy he can't keep them. Will he ever bring his life into focus?
Café Rendezvous au Petit Tarte
4-6pm, Thursday 15th October, Le Petit Tarte Café, 219 Glebe Pt Rd
Special deal for members: coffee or cake is free, or it's $2 for both.
